“I’ve had two children go through all 3 years of the program, my oldest son is a Junior at Ohio University and my younger is currently a Senior at Batavia. The program has prepared them for college and their future endeavors. Mrs. Kovacs takes the time to make sure the kids understand the concepts and feel safe and unjudged. Having a program where high school students learn the skills required for a future in the business world (or any profession really) where they learn how to behave professionally, dress, speak in front of crowds, prepare presentations, and then present their presentations, is something they will take with them through the rest of their professional lives.
Both of my boys achieved levels of community involvement and volunteer hours during their time in the program that was in the hundreds of hours each, which probably would not have happened to that degree without the business program. The program builds future productive, conscientious and compassionate community involved citizens. I am sad this is our last year with the program but I know that my children and I will take this forward and continue to be involved with the program’s fundraising goals and community involvement. |

My son Jacob has enjoyed participating in BPA during both his junior and senior year. He loves learning skills that can be used in real life and immediately. He enjoyed the competition and collaboration with his team this year. He was so proud to win 1st place. My older son Brandon was also in the BPA business program and competed in Business Law and Ethics. His business law class at the University of Cincinnati was easy for him because of the knowledge and skills he received in this class.
I can’t say enough about Ms. Kovacs. She is an awesome teacher! Jacob really likes going to her class. She’s his favorite teacher. Brandon continues to visit Ms. Kovacs and he recently joined the alumni group to help support the program. I would recommend BPA for all students no matter what their future goals are. The value of the class is clear from the beginning and it has an immediate impact. |

"As a BPA parent, I have watched my children’s knowledge in professionalism, communication skills, and teamwork grow and exceed my expectations. They both have created their resumes, applied for colleges, and completed various community services hours without needing my assistance. BPA has provided my children with the confidence to execute skills they will need in their professional goals. As a group, BPA members have contributed over 400 service hours in the last 3 years to our local non-profit organization Give Like A Mother. Mrs. Kovacs plays a great role in the lives of my children and myself. We are forever grateful for her passion and dedication to the BPA program."

The opportunities and lessons my children have learned as students in the BPA program at Batavia High School has and will benefit them professionally and personally. They have learned lessons, skills, and techniques in regards to interviews, management, leadership, and business to name a few that they can implement throughout their academic and professional careers.
They have also learned to give of themselves in charitable and philanthropic ways. One of the ways is very dear to my family, the Special Olympics. My children’s uncle, Jeff, and their cousin, John, are special Olympians. My family has always donated time, energy, and monetarily to the Special Olympics. Jeff, began his Olympic career in his teens participating in a variety of sport, participating into his fifties. Jeff had the blessed opportunity back in 1991, as a torch bearer and an Olympian at the Special Olympics World Games in Minnesota as a member of the Connecticut Special Olympics soccer team. John has medaled in swimming and bowling as an Olympian of the Southern Ohio Special Olympics. I am appreciative and grateful that under Mrs. Kovacs guidance, the BPA program at Batavia High School has not only raised almost $100,000.00 for the Southern Ohio Northern Kentucky Special Olympics, it has given my sons the tools and the confidence to utilize these tools professionally to continue my family’s history of volunteering and giving back to this organization that has positively affected my family so personally. |

“As a parent of two former students of Mrs. Kovacs, I can enthusiastically say the BPA program was one of the most valuable and rewarding classes they experienced at BHS. Mrs. Kovacs opened their eyes to community service and the concept of giving back through involvement in numerous events, such as Polar Plunge. The program also gives students perspective and experience in business skills, public speaking, teamwork, communication, and writing. These experiences and skills are what colleges and employers look for in applicants. Batavia chapter students consistently excel at State and National BPA competitions which proves the program is performing at a high level. Thank you, Mrs. Kovacs for your hard work, energy, and dedication as it certainly benefited my two students.”

"Both of our daughters were in BPA and graduated from Batavia High School. Bailey graduated in 2014 and Anwen graduated in 2017. They are very different and have pursued different career paths. Bailey has her Master's degree and Anwen earned a Cosmetology license. Their time with Mrs. Kovacs helped them both prepare for their future success. In BPA they learned to always focus on community service. They learned written and oral presentation skills and how to have confidence in both. They were encouraged to use public speaking forums. BPA taught them how to interview, from how to dress to how to market their abilities. They were introduced to how to manage a budget and organize work. Through local, state and national competitions they learned how to excel individually and how to work and succeed in a group setting. Their time in this program under Mrs. Kovacs’ guidance was invaluable. We are so grateful they had the opportunity to experience her support and this program. We consider it to be the most important class of their high school career."
